les-cubs_2011Scouts from Lumberton Pack 22 made a trip to Station 139 in October to learn about the role of EMTs and ambulances in our community.  As part of their Community Service award, the scouts attended a lecture by Squad President Dan Januseski on home safety, use of the 9-1-1 telephone number and how to best help responders bring help to their home faster.  Following the talk, the scouts toured a LES ambulance, Rescue Unit 1394 and Marine Unit 139.

The scouts favorite part of the night? "Lights and Sirens!" "Helmet!" "Listening to my hearbeat!"  No doubt it will be a night they will remember for a long time, and hopefully lessons they will carry with them as they learn to always "Be Prepared".

Station 139 was on hand at the annual Lumberton Community on October 1, talking with residents and demonstrating EMS equipment.  Kids were given tours of the ambulance and were rewarded with coloring books and puzzles.  Opportunities for discussing recruitment and membership with the Squad officers was provided.
